Tokyo Tourism

Lots of people are visiting, and we've spent a lot of time there, so here are all the recommendations.
Above is a map of the main areas of the city where you can spend the best part of a full day. By no means is it geographically correct, just an easy way of grouping your activities into days and areas. Use it to plan a rough schedule or where to stay.
I've split recommendations into:
- Attractions
- Places to Visit (walk around, museums, things to look at)
- Shops I think are worth visiting
- Food & Drink
- Restaurants, including a ⛓️ if the restaurant is a chain
- Snacks/ stalls
- Bars & izakayas (*if Japan did pubs, but based on food instead of drink)
- ⭐ if I really think you should go there.
Where to Stay
- Asakusa is a good hub - lots of tourism and food options in walking distance, and great transport links (Shibuya in about 45 minutes).
- Ueno & Kanda are both very central transport hubs. Good option if you want to travel out of the city during your stay as well.
- Shinjuku is not the best area in terms of things to do, but is your best option for transport flexibility.
