Oshiage

The area across the river from Asakusa, where the 13th tallest building in the world was built. Most things to do here are around the Sky Tree itself, so it's a good thing to bolt on to the end of your day if you've spent the morning and afternoon in Asakusa.

Places to Visit

Sky Tree

13th tallest building in the world! If you try to go around sunset, you might need to book tickets in advance. They're expensive but well worth it IMO. Plenty of other things to do around the area too cafe-wise and restaurant-wise.

Solamachi - Sky Tree Mall

It translates to "Sky Town", the shopping centre attached to the Sky Tree has a lot of good shops but is generally just nice to explore inside and out. There are rooftop gardens, older style shopping arcades, as well as the "normal" shopping centre; but also the riverside walk just outside which gives you good views of the Sky Tree from below.

Sumida Aquarium

Another attachment to the Sky Tree, the aquarium is a good visit if you've got time to spend in the Sky Tree area.

Sumida Park

A short walk along the river from Sky Tree will get you to Sumida Park. There's another arcade of shops and cafes to visit, as well as the park itself, which includes a temple of course.

Asahi Beer Hall & Sky Bar

Asahi beer with a view.

Sumo Arena

Throughout the year, there are 6 sumo tournaments, and (I think) at least 2 are in Tokyo. If you're lucky enough with timing, try to get some tickets before you go. Tournaments last 2 weeks with each day's matches carrying more weight. You can easily spend a few hours watching, but no need to stay for the whole day.

Lattest Sport

Café, shop, workspace, hangout, sport rental, and climbing, all in one. This is a "sports centre" for lack of a better description where you can rent bikes, go climbing, or just hang out.

Shops

Food & Drink

Ramen - Ichikakuya Skytree

It's a ramen shop.

Piccole Lampare & Sky bar

Italian restaurant and bar with a nice wine selection, outdoor area, and view of the Sky Tree. Good for "date night".

⛓️ Pepper Lunch

Beef and rice served on a hot sizzling plate. Cheap and good. Order by tablet.
